Happy Saturday!
Our challenge this week at Sugar Creek Hollow is to make a card and add the Faux Barn Board to your card. When I think of barn board, I think of birds, so I opted to use the Christmas Cardinal from Sugar Creek Hollow. Here is my card...
Stamps: Christmas Cardinal, Vintage Post (sentiment)
Paper: Real Red, K&Co, transparency, Faux Barn Board
Ink: Ink jet printer, Copics
Accessories: Clear Embossing Powder, vintage brads, black pearls, feathers, ribbon
I printed the cardinal and the sentiment on ink jet transparency. I then embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then colored the image with Copics (which worked because of the embossing).
I wanted to add feathers for the cardinal, and came across these really fun polka-dot feathers in a mardi gras pack.
I used the sketch from the Midnight Madness challenge.
I have to admit, this card was a bit of a stretch for me. It was more masculine than I usually create, lacking the flowers and foofoo. However, I really love the result.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Hi Julie....I knew you would not disappoint with the technique because I had seen you do it before. The bold red of your cardnial against your wooden background is just striking!!! The perfect compliment of rustic and elegance blended together!!!
ReplyDeleteThis card is absolutely gorgeous!! I love the red cardinal against the wood background. The layout is great too and I just love those feathers!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Card! You did a fabulous job on creating the faux wood look and your cardinal is striking colored on the transparency.
ReplyDeleteHey Julie - nice card - I really like the wood background. The cardinal is the North Carolina state bird and we have a lot of them where I live - petty birds - pretty card!

ReplyDeleteWowzer! Talk about gorgeous, this is the spittin' image of gorgeous! I love everything you did with this card, the barn wood is spectacular and that cardinal is simply breathtaking! I usually am not all that crazy about using feathers because I can't make them look right but you made them look like they were meant to be there!! Whew, I love, love, love this card!!
