Cute Card Thursday - Sketch Challenge

Our challenge at Cute Card Thursday this week is a sketch challenge Here is the sketch...

Since Christmas will be here again before we know it, I opted to make a Christmas card...

Stamps: Cool Santa, Lamp Post
Paper:Signature Christmas (My Mind's Eye)
Accessories: Prima Flowers, Charm, Grunge board, acrylic paint, Stickles, Fun Flock, Glitter

I wanted Santa to have a shabby appearance like the paper.  I used distress ink with lots of blending of pumice stone.I added some Fun Flock to his coat, and flock and glitter to the base for some glittery snow.

I blended a couple of flower types for this shabby Christmas flower and added a charm.

I did quite a bit to the grungeboard to get this effect. I started with Aged Mahogany distress ink, covered with acrylic paint (which pulled the color of the distress ink), stamped with the Weathered Background stamp, darkened the edges with with Walnut distress ink, and finally went over it one more time with Aged Mahogany.

I am entering this in the Magnolia Down Under Challenge - Christmas in May.

To all my USA visitors, I hope you have a fabulous and safe Memorial Day Weekend!

7 Kids College Fund Challenge - Sketch with a twist

Happy Wednesday! It's time for another 7 Kids College Fund Challenge!

Our challenge this week is a sketch with a twist. Here is the sketch...

and the twist is a Beach Theme. Here is my card...

You can find the following items at 7 Kids College Fund...
Accessories:  Flowers, Stickles,

I actually combined a few challenges. Of course, for 7 Kids College Fund, I went with the beach theme, for Magnolia-licious Highlites, I made a wedding card, and for Make it Colourful, I experimented with coloring water.

Here is my tropical wedding couple, colored with Copics. For the ocean, I used Copics B0000, B00, BG10, BG13, and BG18.

I put some flowers together and added rhinestone brads for some bling.

Happy Thursday!

It has been rainy here in the Rockies, perfect crafting weather.

Our challenge at Cute Card Thursday this week is to color on kraft card stock. I must admit, this is way out of my comfort zone, so really was a challenge for me. Here is what I came up with...

Stamps: Willow With Lantern, Circle of Friendship (SU!)
Paper: Burgundy, O Christmas Tree (My Mind's Eye)
Ink: Memento
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Cricut Lacy Labels, Metallic Pencils, Flowers, Liquid Pearls, Stickles, Nellie Snellen Floral Branch Punch 2,

I added Stickles to my roses.

I first colored the image with Prismacolor Pencils, but then wanted more sheen, so I color over the dress and ribbon with metallic pencils.

In the picture below, you can see some of the sheen created with the metallic pencils.

For my card, I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday...

Cute Card Thursday - It's so Distressing

Happy Thursday!

Time for another Cute Card Thursday Challenge. Our challenge this week is "Distressing."

Here is my card...

Stamps: Cowboy Tilda
Paper: DCWV

I colored Tilda with distress ink.

I wanted to create a hanging sign. I love the way this worked out.

I used the Woodgrain embossing folder to create my western sign.

I loosely interpreted the Saturday Sketchers sketch...

7 Kids College Fund Challenge - Circle Shapes

It's Wednesday and time for another 7 Kids College Fund Challenge.

Our challenge this week is Circle Shapes - Make either a circle shaped card or include circles on your card.

For my card, I jumped way out of my circle of comfort, and made this Asian card...

You can find the following items at 7 Kids College Fund...
Accessories: Liquid Pearls

My daughter loves the Japanese culture. When she saw the card, she immediately said, "Oh, I want it!" So, I gave it to her to put in her room.

I altered Tilda's eyes just a bit to bring a more authentic feel to my Japanese themed card.

The ying-yang symbol, pagoda and bridge are from the Cricut Pagoda Cartridge.

For balance I wanted to carry some of the red to the top of the card, so I added these teardrop gems.

I used my retro flower punch and some Liquid Pearls for the flower centers.

While you are over at 7 Kids College Fund, check out the sale on Prima's.
