There Lived a Beautiful Princess Cigar Box

I made another cigar box. This one found a home on the other side of the country, in Connecticut.

I used Lady Tilda and the Once Upon a Time paper pack (DCWV) for the basis of the box. I really wanted to create a fairy tail on the box.

I just love this beautiful paper. It has so many color variations that the potential combinations go on and on.

I think a beautiful crochet lace is the perfect finish. I actually layered the lace over a piece of the paper to add some color interest.

I used a gorgeous font and one of my favorites, Bickham Script. I love the classic, old fashioned feel of this font.  The hardware is part of the Tim Holtz Alterations collection.

I used Copics to color my image. I am still learning pleats which is not an easy concept for me. I must say, I love the regal color of her dress, and it matches the paper perfectly.

Of course, a beautiful princess must have flowers on her box.

The castle was cut from the paper.  To me, it feels mysterious, like a castle on a cloud.

The feet are part of the Tim Holtz Alterations collection.

I finished the inside of the box with some of the paper, fleece, a die cut (Cricut) and  this lovely butterfly.

Thank you for stopping by today!  Have a great week!

Sugar Creek Hollow - Inside Out

I am sad to say that this will be my last challenge with the Sugar Creek Hollow design team. My day job is going through many changes at this time and I am needing to scale back some of my extracurricular activities.

For the challenge this week, we are asking you to decorate the inside of the card as well as the outside. Here is my card...

Stamps: Ladies "Frock" Together (Sugar Creek Hollow)
Paper: Garden Party (DCWV)
Ink: Copics
Accessories: Ribbon,  Flowers, Branch Punch, Copics Airbrush System

I paper pieced the dress, added lace and ribbons to the bottom to make it really frilly.

I used my  Copics Airbrush System with E41 and added just a hint of color to the roses to blend with the ribbons.

The primary decoration on the inside of the card is the beautiful glittered paper. I added a ribbon, sentiment and pearls to make it extra special.

I included a lovely verse as this will go to one of the speakers at our upcoming retreat.

I used the sketch from the Midnight Madness Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Since Tab lives out in the desert, I wanted to create a desert scene for Cowgirl Tilda.

Happy Birthday Tab! I hope you have a great day!

Cute Card Thursday #152 - Shiny Happy Cards

Happy Thursday!

This week at Cute Card Thursday, we want you to show us your Shiny Happy Cards. What does that mean? We want you to include a shiny element on your card (metal, charms, metallic paper, glossy accents, etc). Just make it shine.

Our sponsor this week is Tiddly Inks. Here is my card...

Stamps: Catgirl (Tiddly Inks)
Paper: Pets Collection (DCWV)
Ink: Copics
Accessories: Charm, Flowers, Branch Punch, Stickles, Copics Airbrush System

My daughter is into two things, cats and fishing. I thought this would be the perfect birthday card for her.

I used my Copics Airbrush System to color the pink flower and then added Stickles for some sparkle.

My shiny element is this poor, unfortunate fish. Not really a "happy" card for him.

I used the sketch from Friday Sketchers, and will be entering this in their challenge...

I am also entering this in the Make It Colourful challenge - Shadow and Depth.

Thanks for stopping by today!

7 Kids College Fund Wednesday Challenge - Calling all Squares!

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for another 7 Kids College Fund Challenge! If you are like me, this challenge is right up your alley. We are Calling All Squares (cards that is). I love to make square cards, and we hope you will join us and show us your square card.

Here is my card for the week...

You can find the following items at 7 Kids College Fund

Stamps: Tilda With Apple

I made this for a very dear friend who let us stay with her while I was at CHA. We have a big history with Disney and I thought she would like to add this to her Snow White Collection.

I used my Copics Airbrush System to color my flower. I then used Stickles to carry some of the sparkle from the paper into the rest of the card.

I also added Stickles to my frame, which I liked how it represents the frame around the mirror in Snow White.

I used metallic paper for the frame. This picture shows some of the sparkle on the card.

For this card, I used Sketch Saturday's sketch...

I am also entering this card in the Make It Colourful Challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. If you haven't tried a square card yet, give it a try and join our challenge. We would love to see what you create!

Sugar Creek Hollow Challenge - Nontraditional Valentine Colors

Happy Saturday!

Our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow this week is to make a Valentine card using nontraditional colors (no red or pink).

Stamps:  Vintage Violet Label, Valentine Tags
Paper: K&Co
Ink: Copics
Accessories:Spellbinders Labels 4, Flowers, Pearls, Branch Punch, lace, ribbon

I wanted to carry the background flourish into the image. I used a similar color, shiny mat to tie them together.

I used my Copics Airbrush Systemto add some blue to my purple flower.

I took a two different Valentine Tags and layered them to make this fun sentiment.

Check out the design team blogs (listed on my sidebar). You will love their work!

Cute Card Thursday #150 - Banish the Blues

Happy Thursday!

The challenge for Cute Card Thursday this week is called "Banish the Blues." With all the stormy weather and chaos going on around the world, this is our way of taking a break and enjoying a little humor.

So, here is my attempt at humor...

How do you eat an Elephant?

One bite at a time!
This has been my theme for the last month. I really want to start running. I have not been on a running program for some time, so it feels overwhelming to think about it. My friend and coworker (also a runner) said to me..."one bite at a time." Now if it would just stop snowing. Ah, the excuses.

Stamps: Our Craft Lounge
Paper: K&Co, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Organza Ribbon, Crystal Effects, Quickutz die.

I added crystal effects to my sentiment to make it pop. Unfortunately, it made the ink from the printer bleed a bit.

It took some time to line up the circle with the elephant's head without getting the beaver in the window.

So, is it humor or perhaps a little demented? Have you seen the demented gallery at Split Coast Stampers?  Too funny.

I am entering this card in the Our Craft Lounge Challenge this week. I used their sketch...

Thanks so much for visiting today!

7 Kids College Fund Challenge #14 - I {heart} You

Sorry I have been missing in action for the last week. After a busy work week, I spent the weekend in California at CHA! I had a wonderful time. What an incredible opportunity to meet some of the fabulous exhibitors and designers from around the world. Check back as I plan to post some pictures soon.

So, it's Wednesday and time for another 7 Kids College Fund Challenge!

Our Challenge this week is called I {heart} You - Use a heart or hearts in your project. While I was at CHA, I saw this adorable little Tea Light Card and had to make one. Here it is...

You can find the following items at 7 Kids College Fund
Stamp:  Sweet Tilda

I colored Sweet Tilda with Copics.

I found the tutorial for my Tea Light Card at Stampartic. It ended up being quite the challenge as it was in metric and my tools are primarily in inches. However, with the use of a ruler, I managed to get it.

I made a pocket with a little tag for the inside of the card. I got this cool iridescent paper in a sample pack at CHA. I am going to have to look into getting more of this. I love the colors.

How fun is this card? You could put little candies or other treats in there for a special little gift.

I am entering this in the following challenges...

Magnolia Down Under - Embossing (used folder)
Just Magnolia - Going Dotty (Swiss Dots Embossing Folder)
Pile It On - Punch It
Magnolia-licious Highlites - Recipe (Hearts, Pink, White, Silver)
Totally Tilda - Tilda with Lots of Hearts

Come on over to 7 Kids College Fund Challenge and join in the fun! Thanks for stopping by today.
