7 Kids College Fund - Mardi Gras

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for another 7 Kids College Fund Challenge.
.
Did you know that Mardi Gras falls on March 8 this year. To help celebrate Mardi Gras, we are using Mardi Gras Colors. I did some research and found some fun facts about Mardi Gras...

Mardi Gras occurs the day before Lent begins.
Mardi Gras is a French term, translated Fat Tuesday and was called this because it was the last day to "pig out" before Lent.
Mardi Gras is the last day of the Carnival Season before Ash Wednesday.
Mardi Gras has been celebrated since the middle ages.
Mardi Gras Colors have the following assigned meanings...
Purple - Justice
Green - Faith
Gold - Power

Here is my Mardi Gras card...

You can find the following items at 7 Kids College Fund...

 Ink: Memento, Copics

I colored Tilda with Copics, using the current technique challenge from Make It Colourful, "Light Source Top Left.:"  I really wanted to go with the Mardi Gras theme, so I used one of the dies from the Lattice Pendant set to fashion a mask. I used feathers and Stickles to decorate the mask, and a tooth pick for the handle. I added some pearls because you know Mardi Gras is all about the beads.

I used the Carte Postale set from SU! for the fleur de lis and the sentiment.

I included a picture from the side of the image that really shows off the Stickles.

I used the sketch from Just Magnolia...

Thanks for stopping by today.

Cute Card Thursday #152 - Shiny Happy Cards

Happy Thursday!

This week at Cute Card Thursday, we want you to show us your Shiny Happy Cards. What does that mean? We want you to include a shiny element on your card (metal, charms, metallic paper, glossy accents, etc). Just make it shine.

Our sponsor this week is Tiddly Inks. Here is my card...

Stamps: Catgirl (Tiddly Inks)
Paper: Pets Collection (DCWV)
Ink: Copics
Accessories: Charm, Flowers, Branch Punch, Stickles, Copics Airbrush System

My daughter is into two things, cats and fishing. I thought this would be the perfect birthday card for her.

I used my Copics Airbrush System to color the pink flower and then added Stickles for some sparkle.

My shiny element is this poor, unfortunate fish. Not really a "happy" card for him.

I used the sketch from Friday Sketchers, and will be entering this in their challenge...

I am also entering this in the Make It Colourful challenge - Shadow and Depth.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Cute Card Thursday #150 - Banish the Blues

Happy Thursday!

The challenge for Cute Card Thursday this week is called "Banish the Blues." With all the stormy weather and chaos going on around the world, this is our way of taking a break and enjoying a little humor.

So, here is my attempt at humor...

How do you eat an Elephant?

One bite at a time!
This has been my theme for the last month. I really want to start running. I have not been on a running program for some time, so it feels overwhelming to think about it. My friend and coworker (also a runner) said to me..."one bite at a time." Now if it would just stop snowing. Ah, the excuses.

Stamps: Our Craft Lounge
Paper: K&Co, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Organza Ribbon, Crystal Effects, Quickutz die.

I added crystal effects to my sentiment to make it pop. Unfortunately, it made the ink from the printer bleed a bit.

It took some time to line up the circle with the elephant's head without getting the beaver in the window.

So, is it humor or perhaps a little demented? Have you seen the demented gallery at Split Coast Stampers?  Too funny.

I am entering this card in the Our Craft Lounge Challenge this week. I used their sketch...

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Sugar Creek Hollow - Black and White with a splash of color...

Happy Saturday!

Our challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow this week is to use Black, White and a splash of color. With Valentine's Day coming, I opted to use a splash of red. Here is my card...

Paper: DCWV
Ink: Ink Jet Printer, Copics
Accessories: Flowers, Lace, Heart Doily, Branch Punch, Pearl Sprays

The primary colors I used for the bird house were cool gray Copic Markers (C01, C03, C05 and C07). The hearts are colored with Copic Markers R29 with a bit of gray for shadows.

Again, I colored the border of the Valentine Tag with R29. I used C03 and C01 for the remainder of the tag. I added some rose buds and pearl sprays to embellish the tag.

I used the sketch for the Midnight Madness Challenge as the base design for my card...

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a wonderful weekend!
