Cute Card Thursday - Reds for Remembrance

Happy Thursday!

This week, many countries are honoring those who have given their lives serving their countries. In the U.S., it is recognized as Veteran's Day. Remembrance Day is also known as Poppy Day or Armistice Day. So this week, our challenge inspiration is Reds For Remembrance. When I first read the challenge, I was not sure what "Reds For Remembrance" meant. So, I went to Google for information.

I learned from Wikipedia that the Red Remembrance Poppy became a symbol for remembrance day due to the poem "In Flanders Fields." The red poppies bloomed in the fields in Flanders where many soldiers died during WWI.  Such a strong representation of the blood shed during this war.

So we remember and honor those who have served to protect our freedom!

Paper: DCWV
Accessories: Pearls, Spellbinders Fancy Tags, Tim Coffey Blossomwood

You may see a scarecrow, but I see Tilda with her arms open wide ready to give a big hug. I colored her with distress ink.

I had these red poppies and thought they were perfect for Remembrance Day.

I used the sketch from Stamp With Fun...

I am also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Poppy Field

Thank you to my wonderful friends who leave me comments! I love reading them and appreciate the time spent sharing your thoughts! Hugs to you!!!

A beautiful card Julie and I love your painting, the way you mixed the orange and red, may be a little pink in the dress? It's beautiful anyway and lovely that you looked up about the poppies. Over here in the UK we wear a poppy in our lapel up to and including tomorrow the 11th and all money from the sale of the paper poppy pins goes to veterans here. Hope you're well and have a great weekend. Hugs, Chris :)
