Magnolia Down Under #56 - Christmas in July / Mojo Monday #149

Happy Saturday!

I missed the Christmas blog hop this month, but did not want to lose my Christmas card momentum. Fortunately, Magnolia Down Under has given me a chance to redeem myself. Their challenge this week is Christmas in July. The base of my card is inspired by Mojo Monday's sketch, seen here...

...and here is my Christmas in July card...

Stamp: Tilda With Christmas Tree (Magnolia)
Paper: Mellow Moss, designer papers from stash
Ink: Staz-On, Distress Ink
Accessories: Branch punch, Flowers, Lace, Stickles, Ribbon, Scallop Trim Border Punch

I colored my image using very soft colored distress inks.

I had most of the colors I wanted for my flowers, with the exception of the large flower, so I colored it with my Copics Airbrush System.

I hope the rest of your weekend is wonderful. Thanks for visiting!

Sweet 'n Sassy Peek-a-Boo Sophie / Mojo Monday #136

This is my final week as a Guest Designer for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. I just want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Korin, Kim, and the entire design team for so kindly welcoming me for the month of April.

For my final card, I used the sketch from Mojo Monday. I really liked the circle card, and since I usually go with the square cards, I decided to change it up. Here are their sketch options...

...and here is my card...

Stamps: Peek-a-Boo Sophie (SNSS), All Holidays (SU!)
Paper: Cameo Corral and Garden Green (SU!), Twitterpated (Imaginisce)
Ink: In Jet Printer, Copics, Garden Green
Accessories: Ribbon, Slot Punch, Spellbinders scalloped circle

My mom and dad are visiting, and before they leave tomorrow, I wanted to get a Mother's Day card done for my mom. So, I decided to incorporate a Mother's Day sentiment into my Peek-a-Boo Sophie card.

I colored Sophie with Copics. I just love this image. So springy and fun. I love how she makes the flower "come to life."

I hope you have a great day. Thanks again to the SNSS design team for all your help and support! You guys are the best.

Mojo Monday #134 - Tilda with Pets

The sketch for Mojo Monday this week was very inspiring for me. Here is the sketch...

...and here is my card...

Stamps: Tilda With Cat, Tilda With Puppy, Whimsical Words (SU!), Flourish stamps (MS)
Paper: Nana's Nursery - Baby Girl, Textured Cardstock (DCWV)
Ink: Staz-On, Distress Ink, Always Artichoke
Accessories: Flowers and Leaves (Prima's and Wild Orchid), Branch Punch (MS), Rhinestones, Round Tab Punch, Scallop Trim Border (SU!), Spellbinders Label

The sketch inspired me to hinge the front of the card with the round tab punch. I wanted my images to correspond, so I chose Tilda with Cat and Tilda with Puppy.

I am continuing to refine my style with distress inks. I can't get over the effect of blending colors. I just wish the photographs did justice to what the images are like in person.

I wanted to use Becca's technique for bow tying. I struggled a bit because the bow kept covering my image. I finally ended up with a bow tie.

I can't make a card without some kind of flower bouquet. Gotta love those flowers.

So, do you ever finish a card, and think, "Why is this not quite right?" I felt that way with this card. I like it, but I think I would have liked the bow a little higher. What do you think? I am always trying to improve, so your comments are always appreciated.

Well, I hope you have a great weekend!

Mojo Monday Week 90

The challenge for Mojo Monday on June 8 was to use this sketch...

Okay, so I am just getting in under the wire. Here is my card...

I flipped the image upside down.

Stamps: Fish (PSX), Happy Father's Day (Old SU! set)
Ink: Memento, Copics
Paper: Always Artichoke, Provo Craft River Rock, Natural Card Stock
Embellishments: Copic Airbrush System, neutral brads
Technique: Paper Piecing, airbrushing

I used a piece of paper from the River Rock Collection to stamp the fish. I then used my airbrush system to add some more color to the fish.

This accomplished two challenges; the Mojo Monday Challenge and the challenge to get Father's Day cards done on time.
Have a happy Mojo Monday!

Blogger's Challenge 100 - Patriotic

I totally planned to participate in the Blogger's Challenge last week, but ran out of time. However, I got it together this week, and have a card to post. The challenge for this week was "Patriotic." I have a friend whose birthday is really close to July 4th, so I used the patriotic theme to make her a birthday card.

Stamps: Owl Celebrations (Sweet and Sassy Stamps), Button/Bow Bear Accessories (Stampin' Up! retired)
Ink: Memento, Copics, Whisper White Craft pad, Bravo Burgundy, Night of Navy
Paper: Daisy D's, Bazzill, Bravo Burgundy
Embellishments: Prima’s, Copics Airbrush System, Martha Steward border punch, Fire Circle Rhinestone
Other notes: I added the designer paper to he belly of the owl.

This card is also for the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. Here is the sketch...

This flower was tricky. I wanted the colors to match, and did not have the right color flowers. However, I have a paint can of white flowers. So I used my Copic Airbrush to color the flowers. It worked beautifully for the blue flower, but the red flower was just too orange and bright. I really wanted to add Bravo Burgundy, but nothing seemed to work. I used my color spritzer, and it just added dots. I tried using wax paper with burgundy and a water spritzer, but could not get even color and it soaked the flower. I used my heat gun to dry, and then applied the flower directly to my burgundy pad. It was then too dark. So, I spritzed the flower with water and dried it again with my heat gun. The picture below is the result.

I actually like the way it turned out. It has some depth and dimension. It kind of blends with the designer paper.

I hope you have a safe and wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

Mojo Monday Week 85

The Mojo Monday challenge for this week is to use the following sketch...

...and here is my card...

Stamps: Botanical (Time to Stamp), Garden Collage (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Memento, Copics, Chocolate Chip
Paper: K & Co, So Saffron DSP.
Embellishments Mustard grosgrain ribbon, gold micro beads.

I had this thing about using this K & Co paper that I got while on vacation last month. It is very collage oriented and sort of old world. It is really fun paper. This challenge was great for this paper.

I used gold micro beads to embellish the center of the flower. I colored with Copics. I like how the simple image plays off the busy paper.

See you Friday for the Blogger's Challenge.

Embellishments: Prima’s, Dew Drops, Crystal Effects, Spellbinders scallop circle

I used watercolor crayons for the flowers and the cross behind the saying. I used embossing folders to enhance the designer paper.
