Cute Card Thursday #150 - Banish the Blues

Happy Thursday!

The challenge for Cute Card Thursday this week is called "Banish the Blues." With all the stormy weather and chaos going on around the world, this is our way of taking a break and enjoying a little humor.

So, here is my attempt at humor...

How do you eat an Elephant?

One bite at a time!
This has been my theme for the last month. I really want to start running. I have not been on a running program for some time, so it feels overwhelming to think about it. My friend and coworker (also a runner) said to me..."one bite at a time." Now if it would just stop snowing. Ah, the excuses.

Stamps: Our Craft Lounge
Paper: K&Co, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Organza Ribbon, Crystal Effects, Quickutz die.

I added crystal effects to my sentiment to make it pop. Unfortunately, it made the ink from the printer bleed a bit.

It took some time to line up the circle with the elephant's head without getting the beaver in the window.

So, is it humor or perhaps a little demented? Have you seen the demented gallery at Split Coast Stampers?  Too funny.

I am entering this card in the Our Craft Lounge Challenge this week. I used their sketch...

Thanks so much for visiting today!

Embellish-It FC81 - Duncan Hines Birthday/SC273/Copic Creations #24

This challenge is for Embellish-It Scrapbooking Friday Challenge #81 - Duncan Hines Birthday. Danni is our wonderful hostess this week, and here is what she had to say...

This week is all about Duncan Hines. March 26, 1880 was the birth of Duncan Hines. Yes, THEE Duncan Hines, of the cake/baking empire. In honor of his birthday, let's create a layout, card, mini album, packaging or alterable with a cake, cupcake, frosting, sprinkles or anything cake-related on it. If you create packaging, for example, you could create a package decorating a cake baking gift set. Anything goes, just have fun.

I decided to incorporate the Split Coast Stampers Sketch Challenge #273 into this challenge and used this sketch...

I took a little poetic license and made a square card and changed the shape. Here is my card...

Stamps: Anna Mae (Our Craft Lounge)
Paper: Blue Skies (American Crafts ), Chocolate Chip, Pink Passion, Bermuda Bay (SU!)
Ink: Memento, Copics
Accessories: Spellbinders Die, Felt cut with die and airbrushed with Copics, Rhinestone brad

I also wanted to incorporate Copic Creations Challenge #24. They are celebrating their one-year blogoversary. For this challenge, they wanted participants to use one of the techniques taught over the last year. I chose two - Feather Blending and coloring embellishments. You can see the feathering in Anna Mae's dress and in some of the letters. There is a great tutorial for this technique here.

The other technique is coloring embellishments. I chose to color my felt flowers with my Copics Airbrush System. I bought some inexpensive felt at Hobby Lobby and used my Big Shot and a die to cut out my flowers. I love that I can make them any color I like with my airbrush system.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great weekend.

Our Craft Lounge Challenge

Our Craft Lounge issued a challenge to their customers. The challenge was to create a card using this sketch...

...and here is my card.

I used Dr. Peanut for this card. I also used pieces from Lil' Peanut. I used Copics to color. The biggest thing of note (for me anyway) is this was my first opportunity to use my new Copic Airbrush System for the grass and the sky. Wow is that fun to use. The paper is from a Sizzix 4 x 6 stack. I started with the paper and used colors to coordinate.

If you have not yet visited, go check out Our Craft Lounge. They have really cute stamp sets!

Blogger's Challenge 86 - Valentine

The challenge this week was to make a valentine.

So, in honor of Valentine's Day and the new release at Our Craft Lounge, I made this card using Dr. Peanut from Our Craft Lounge.

I used the heart template from the Creative Memories cutting system to cut out the heart. I used a Fiskars edger to cut the pattern along the edge of the flap.

I colored Peanut with Copics and created the grass attempting to use the technique taught by Marianne on the blog I Like Markers. I used a sponge to sponge in the sky.

I hope you all have a HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

I have posted this previously on Typepad, but wanted it on this site as well.

This card was created using the stamp set Anna Mae from a brand new company called Our Craft Lounge.

I stamped the image on designer series paper and cut the dress out and mounted it on the stamped image. I used an older Stampin' Up! Simply Scrappin' pack for the paper and embellishments.

Our Craft Lounge has some incredibly cute stamps. Go check them out.

Our Craft Lounge - Bubs the Beaver

I made this card for my DH for Valentine's Day.

The image is from Our Craft Lounge, and is from the set "Bubs the Beaver." Is he not the cutest?!

The cardstock is Stampin' Up! Red Riding Hood and Brocade Blue. The paper is some I have had for years (I am trying to use some of my old stock) from Paper Pizazz, "The Great Outdoors." I like this paper because of the masculine feel. I even added some flowers, and it is still not girly. I colored Bubs with Copics.

Go check out Our Craft Lounge. They are just starting out, so there are not a ton of sets yet, but the ones they have are adorable.
