Sassy Cheryl's / Basic Grey / Sketch Saturday

This card is for Sassy Cheryl's Challenge this week which is called Let It Snow! You have to use an image from Sassy Cheryl's (of course) that is a snowman. Include some ribbon, button(s) and sparkle on your card or paper project!In addition, I am submitting this in the Basic Grey Challenge this week, which is paper piecing.

Ink: Copics and Distress Ink

Paper: Two Scoops (Basic Grey), Ballet Blue, Brushed Silver

Accessories: Button, ribbon, Sizzix snowflakes die, Crystal Effects, Stickles, Fiskars border punch, snowflake confetti, flat-back pearls, lace, Fun Flock

I used Stickles to add some shimmer to the ice, the ice skates, and the wind swirls.

I paper pieced different Two Scoops papers to make his outfit. I popped up his scarf and his hat with silicone glue. You can see how it adds dimension. I also added some Crystal Effects for the carrot nose. One other added touch is the fringe on the hat. I took some organza ribbon, cut off one side and frayed it out, then glued it to the top of his hat.

My snowflake is many layers including two Sizzix die cuts, a plastic snowflake confetti, some flat-back pearls, a button with some organza ribbon.

Country Girl - Sassy Cheryl's #26/Dare U 2 Digi Stamp #45

I made this card for 2 challenges. Sassy Cheryl's Challenge this week was to use Polka Dots. Dare U 2 Digi Stamp challenged us to make a shape card. Here is what I came up with...

I used Country Girl for my image. I love ladybugs, and thought this was perfect for a polka dot theme. I used Twitterpated paper for the background. The base of the card is a black circle with two pieces of Real Red cardstock cut out to make wings. I covered the wings with black dots.

I used some ribbon and buttons to embellish the card.

I colored Country Girl with Copics.

DU2DS - Sketch Challenge / Sassy Cheryl's #22 Thinking of You

Happy Friday Y'all!

The challenge today over at Dare U 2 Digi Stamp is a sketch challenge. Here is the beautiful sketch...

Ink: Ink jet printer, Copics, distress ink (Tea Dye and Broken China)
Accessories: QuicKutz Nesting Flowers, sea shells, rhinestone brads, ribbon (SU!)

I colored my image with Copics, and used my distress inks to color the edge and the bottom of the white cardstock.

I have some sea shells that I got at hobby stores. I added them to the bottom of the image to carry on the beach theme. 

I am also entering this in Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #22, Thinking of You. I just love Sassy Cheryl's adorable digis.

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge - Buttons third submission

I am on a role with the button challenge. I have been making so many cards, I have decided I want to start scrapbooking more. So, I made another project for the Sassy Cheryl's Challenge, included the buttons, and came up with this scrapbook page. I have to admit, I love the way this turned out.

Paper: DCWV, Garden Green, Red Riding Hood and Ivory (SU!)
Ink: Ink jet printer, Copics
Accessories: Lady Bug Buttons, red buttons, tree button, flat-back pearls, Spellbinders Curved Rectangle, Cuttlebug embossing folders, grass border die, George and Basic Shapes Cricut Cartridge

This image is particularly appropriate for our family. We are all tall. My daughter is on her way to possibly 6 feet tall. I just love Country Gal because she is so long and lean.

I used my George and Basic Shapes Cricut Cartidge to cut out my sentiment. I added a pine tree to the title to make is more interesting.

I added an additional ladybug button to the top corner to carry the theme across the page.

I used little ladybug buttons and red buttons to the grass border. I added black dots to the red buttons with my Copics to continue the ladybug theme.

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge - Buttons

I created another card for Sassy Cheryl's Challenge. The challenge is to use buttons on your project, and I thought this Sassy Fairy would be perfect with a star button on the end of her wand.

Stamp: Sassy Fairy (Sassy Cheryl's)
Paper: K&Co.
Ink: Ink jet printer, Copics
Accessories: Bows with pearls, toothpick, star button, Stickles, flat-back pearls, Blingz, border punch, Spellbinders Curved Rectangle, CM oval cutter.

For the wand, I used a toothpick covered in Copper Stickles, and a star button covered in Diamond Stickles. I started out cutting my image out with the Curved Rectangle Spellbinders die. However, it did not give quite the feel I was looking for, so I used my CM oval cutter to create more of an oval image to give the feel of a spotlight.

As always it is hard to get a good picture of the shimmer of the bling on a card, but I took this picture with sunlight shining on it trying to capture the shimmer. I used Blingz on her skirt to give a tutu feel. The paper is also really glittery. I created a stage with curtains, cut freehand from my designer paper. I added the bows to "tie back" the curtains.

I really love this because my sister was a dancer and I grew up in a ballet studio. When I made this card, I thought of those years. It brought back some nice memories.

Sassy Cheryl's White on White Challenge/A Spoon Full of Sugar #101

This week, Sassy Cheryl's design team challenged us to a white on white challenge. Basically, the only thing that can have color is the image. No colored papers, embellishments, ribbons, etc. I loved the samples by the design team, so had to play with this challenge. Here is my card...

Paper: White, white and white cardstock, and my image has some small snippets of Basic Grey
Ink: Ink jet printer, Copics
Accessories: Cuttlebug Embossing Folders, Spellbinders Scallop Oval, Butterfly Embosslit (SU!), feather, Copic Air Brush System, Crystal Effects

I love how the white on white makes the color in the image really POP! I am thankful for embossing folders, because they add so much character to an otherwise white card.


I incorporated paper piecing on my image with Basic Grey paper, which I had not tried yet with digis. I printed directly onto my BG paper and cut out the sweater, dress and bows. The paper I used for the dress turned out unusual, but really added some great character to the image.

I also added some Crystal Effects to the bubble to give it just a little shine.


I incorporated the challenge at A Spoon Full of Sugar which was 3-D something, and I made my image 3-dimensional. I printed several images for the dimensional effect. I also printed on regular printer paper so I could make a mask for my airbrushing. This card required a lot of cutting out, but I love the result.

For my card, I combined two challenges. Sassy Cheryl's Challenge for this week was to a use a Sassy Cheryl 'girl' image and include ribbon in our card or 3-D project. I love to use sketches for layout inspiration, so I used the sketch from Basic Grey Sketch Challenge #17.

She is so adorable. Cheryl offered her as a special gift for reaching 300 members on Paper Craft Planet. If you like this image, you should check out her group. They are a fun bunch of gals.


Here is a closeup of her face. I figured if she was dressing up, she would probably wear some of her mom's makeup, so I used Prismacolor pencils to add a little eye shadow and lipstick. I added Stickles to her glasses and tiny pearls to her earrings.

When I look at the image, I think this is the PERFECT saying. She looks like she is doing the Hokey Pokey.

Sassy Cheryl's / Sunday Sketch and Stamp / Stamptacular Sunday Challenge

Howdy! I hope you are having a fantastic week so far.

I made my card using the Sunday Sketch & Stamp Sketch for this week. I am also including this in the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge this week which is called Going in Circles. Here is the sketch...

I joined the Paper Craft Planet group for Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps. I am just crazy about these stamps. She has such a fun, whimsical style. Yesterday, it just seemed like so many on the group were not feeling well or had sick kids. That inspired me to make this card. I used paper that I got from Embellish-It Scrapbooking called Pink Paisley.



I colored my image with Copics. I colored her shorts to match the spotted paper on the card. I really wanted to get the effect of the water, so I used Crystal Effects on the rain drops and the puddle. I can't help myself. I will probably have to do that every time I use this image.


Pink Paisley has some really cute brads called Bella Brads that match the spotted paper perfectly, only in a mini form. Now, I must confess that I did not have that particular brad on hand, so I had to make my own. I used the Build A Brad by Stampin' Up! I punched out two circles from the Postcards paper by Pink Paisley. I glued to the brad and covered with the acrylic circle. I like this because it adds more of the water effect to the card. What a great embellishment for my Prima flowers.

I knew what I wanted to say, but lacked the sentiment stamp, so I created my own. I made this in Word 2003 and printed it out. I used my label punch to punch it out and colored the edges with Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip ink (Stampin' Up!). I am hooked. I will likely make a whole selection of sentiments for myself.
